Hmm… Before I accidentally deleted it before it was sent, I had a post all about how I was thinking about switching over to Wordpress MU… but after having fought with it, and tried slogging through the rather unhelpful WP-MU forums…
Yeah; I’ll live with updating several dozen blogs one by one, rather than doing battle with the damnable WP-MU plugin options… Hardcoding in adsense/analytics code, enabling plugins manually for each and every blog, or else making them globally available and dealing with the phone calls from my… not-so-tech inclined… users. /sigh.
Eh; I’ll live with the manual, one-by-one upgrades.

Well; I guess the good news is I’m TOTALLY going to be posting regularly…
the bad news is that I’m realizing that I’m REALLY getting into my blog. So much so that, when I’m checking a customer’s site to see if the issue they’re having is our servers, or their code, that I’m tempted (not to the point that I’d do it, of course) to add my feedburner headline widget to their site, or just toss a link to my blog on there somewhere… both LOL and >.<

and now for some random rambling.
Since when has LOL transformed from “laughing out loud” to an adjective? It it just me? Hrm…

Hrm.
I’m realizing that a goodly portion of why I’m not posting is that, every time I open this page, I see another thing that I want to change, or another thing I want to add, and get totally distracted…
Right now, the color scheme is driving me nuts. It’s CLOSE, but not quite right… and I can’t find a premade that fits.
So, I’m having to try and learn how to code the template myself, so as to get the colors, fonts, etc. all just right; the problem is, I have no idea what I’m doing, and I can’t seem to find any tutorials that actually teach what I want- there are plenty on how to cut up an HTML site- great, but I don’t have one to cut up, and don’t remember about 99/100 of the HTML coding I ever learned… so I’d have to re-learn HTML before I can go learn CSS, so I can put together, etc., etc.

You know what I’d like? A simple, straightforward tutorial. “These statements set the font/color in your main page. These statements set the font/olor on etc. These statements set your backgrounds, these are for layout, here’s a quick sample commented out so you can gain some understanding.”
Hmm… If I ever get this figured out, I think I’ll look at putting one together myself…
Bah.

Today, I’m going to be talking about an acquaintance of mine. Not a friend. Not even a good friend. I have little to no association with him, Blizz, so there’s no reason to ban ME for HIS indiscretions.
Anyway; enough CYA-
This friend of mine has started *gasp* playing on a private server.
I know, I know- if he gets caught.. nay, WHEN he gets caught, he’s forfeiting his WoW account. But he doesn’t have the ability to pay for WoW right now, and he’s feeling the need to give the private servers a shot…
Well; here’s what I’ve learned from him so far-

Wow; apparently there’s quite the shakeout-time involved in having adsense ads on a WoW-related site… I go through and block one set of WoW goldfarmers, only to have a whole new set show up… block them, and hey- another set!

/sigh

Eh; I’m sure I’ll eventually manage to block ‘em… right before they all change domains, and I have to do it all over again.

Well; this is annoying- the post-by-email feature isn’t working for me… I’ve sequicentuple-checked the settings, and it seems that Wp just doesn’t feel like checking the mail?

I’m able to check the box manually- the messages are arriving, and awaiting wordpress… but it doesn’t seem to want to actually post them.

Grr.

Update: AHA! I needed to set up a cron-job on my server to open the wp-mail.php page to actually have wordpress check the mail and post…

Of course, now I have to find out why I’m getting odd-looking posts…

Well; I guess I’m not so much GONE, as updating the entire site after my move from Wordpress.com to my own server; so Yay!

Actually, it’s quite a bit of fun- I’m quite pleased that I got this SWEET hosting package as a freebie at my job…  15TB/month. Free. O.O

Aaaanyhoo; hey, google guy- this will be a busier, WoW-oriented site in a bit.  (I’m signing up for Adsense- even have the Wordpress plugin installed and ready to go… just needs an Adsense account ID… ^_^)

Well, then… I’ll post more later, when I’m home from work- there’s actually quite a bit of news about 2.4 to link to/repost/talk about…
